A message from our General Manager


Hi Everyone,

It’s great to be connecting wearing my new hat as General Manager for Destination Sydney Surrounds South. I have been spending my first month getting to know new people, new projects and bringing on board some new staff. 

The Visitor Economy Symposium on the 15th December will be a great opportunity to catch up in person and hear from TA, DNSW and industry leaders, we will be focusing on looking ahead to opportunities and ways to work together more effectively.

There are lots of funding programs open, I urge you to look at the list below and reach out if you have any questions or would like assistance.

There is also support and training resources available through DNSW’s NSW First Program – check it out!

Visitor Economy Symposium

Funding Opportunities

Bushfire Community Recovery and Resilience Fund (BCRRF)

Stream 2 application deadline extended until midday, Friday 11 December 2020.
Grants for community groups, councils, joint organisations, NGOs, and not-for-profits in the local government areas that were disaster-declared during the 2019-20 bushfires to fund social recovery and preparedness projects.
Applications can be made by eligible organisations for funding between $20,000 and $300,000.

Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund (BLERF)

Applications close 2pm, Thursday 28 January 2021. **Closing deadline extended.**
This Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund will provide $250 million of further funding to support the social and economic recovery of communities affected by bushfire in 47 regional NSW Local Government Areas. *Eligible bushfire affected LGAs in our region:
  • Shoalhaven City Council
  • Wingecarribee Shire Council
  • Wollondilly Shire Council

Business Events Grants Program

Austrade is calling on business event owners to register expressions of interest (EOI) to take part in the Federal Government’s $50 million Business Events Grants program.*
The program will allow eligible businesses to apply for grants of between $10,000 and $250,000 to cover up to 50 per cent of the costs incurred in participating at pre-approved business to business events in Australia during the 2021 calendar year. 

Event owners are encouraged to submit their EOI by 11.59pm, 30 November 2020 to ensure your event can be considered for the schedule of approved events for when the funding program opens in mid-December.

Advance Program

Deadline for submission is 5pm, Monday 30 November 2020.
Business Events Australia’s Advance Program is a partnership marketing initiative that provides financial assistance to Australian industry to support marketing and distribution projects aimed at driving business events visitation to Australia.
Applications are now open for the second submission intake with successful projects to be completed by 30 June 2021.

Australian Heritage Funding Grants Program

Applications close 7 January 2021.
The Australian Heritage Grants Program aims to improve recognition, conservation, preservation and access to the heritage values of National Heritage Listed places.

The program also aims to increase community engagement and raise awareness of listed sites. Eligible applicants are invited to apply for grants between $25,000 and $400,000.

Wine Export Grants

To help counter the impacts of COVID-19 on in-market events, Wine Australia is offering $1 million towards Wine Export Grants Round 2. Wine producers may be eligible for up to $25,000 in reimbursement for the cost of promotional activities in any export market.

Applications are now open and will be assessed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Regional Job Creation Fund

Applications close 5pm, Friday 14 May 2021.
The NSW Government has launched a $100 million Regional Job Creation Fund to support existing businesses in regional NSW to grow and encourages interstate or overseas businesses to invest in regional NSW.

A webinar will be held on 5 November 2020 for interested application to provide further information on the funding program.

NSW First Program


Destination NSW delivers the NSW First Program to assist tourism businesses to develop, promote and sell their tourism products. It includes a series of live online sessions, delivered via Zoom the interactive sessions provide practical tips and insights for tourism businesses, and the opportunity to ask questions.

As part of the program, tourism operators can also access the free guides below which have been recently updated.
