59 Regional events receive Government funding to boost local tourism economies


Regional New South Wales will receive a welcome boost to tourism with 59 events to share in the NSW Government’s $1 million 2020 Regional Event Fund.

Tourism Australia Business Events Boost Program


Applications for the Business Events Boost Program, a new domestic partnership initiative to support industry-led business events marketing and distribution projects, will open 1 July 2020. The new program aims to support the Australian business events industry in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis by providing the opportunity to leverage funding, as well as Tourism Australia’s expertise to deliver marketing and distribution projects which help drive demand for domestic business events.For full details click the link below.

Safe Work Australia


Safe Work Australia has created a new infographic tool to support small businesses to operate safely and manage work health and safety risks from COVID-19. The Small business planning tool outlines key steps for safely operating your business during the COVID-19 pandemic, including:
  • understanding and following public health rules and work health and safety (WHS) laws
  • assessing and managing WHS risks
  • ongoing review and monitoring.

WHS guidance for COVID-19 is also available for over 30 different industries on key topics including duties under WHS laws, risk assessments, physical distancing, cleaning and hygiene. As business activity across NSW continues to pick up, tourism operators are reminded to follow all NSW Government and health advice.

The NSW Government continues to publish updated advice in line with the current Public Health Orders to best inform businesses and individuals about their responsibilities – refer to NSW.gov.au for the latest updates.

NSW to benefit from Event Management Scholarship Program

Future industry leaders living in regional areas across the State can now apply for one of 12 event management scholarships thanks to the NSW Government’s partnership with Meetings and Events Australia (MEA).

The scholarship program is part of the NSW Government’s $6 million Regional Conferencing Strategy and Action Plan developed by the State’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.

New Small Business Recovery Grant

Thousands of small businesses reopening across the State after the COVID-19 shutdown will benefit from funding of up to $3,000.00 under a new Small Business Recovery Grant. Applications will open on 1st July to help businesses safely relaunch their operations with funds remaining from the $750 million.

Small Business Support Fund Grants Extended

Small businesses in industries highly impacted by Covid-19 now have more time to submit applications for up to $10,000 in Small Business Support Fund grants to help pay for unavoidable expenses. The closing date for applications has been extended to 11.59pm on 30th June. Click below for the criteria for these grants and the online application form.
