Tourism & Hospitality Experience (T.H.E.) Schools Day – Bega Valley

This month the Centre of Excellence delivered a third Tourism & Hospitality Experience Schools Day at Oaklands in Pambula.

The event was attended by 46 students plus teachers from three high schools in the Bega Valley to inspire them to consider a career in tourism and hospitality. The day featured presentations from local businesses including Mimosa Rocks Restaurant, Wheelers Restaurant, CoastLife Coastal Adventures, the Wanderer Festival, Merimbula Tourist Centre and Tathra Beachside on careers in Commercial Cooking, Outdoor and Recreation, Front of House, Tourism Marketing, Event Management and Venue Management.

It was not all sit and listen, students were invited to get involved in interactive activities and ask questions about the presenter’s career journeys. Students were advised of the study options available to them while still at school through school-based traineeships and apprenticeships and post school to gain the qualifications to launch their careers in tourism and hospitality.
