New Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data shows a steady recovery in tourism jobs.
Tourism jobs peaked in Australia at 749,400 in December 2019, and in the March 2022 quarter jobs were at their highest level (645,000) since the pandemic started.
Visitor economy-related industries industries with the largest quarterly increases were:
- accommodation (8500 jobs, up 9.1 per cent);
- air, water and other transport (3300 jobs, up 13.5 per cent);
- and cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services (1500 jobs, up 0.7 per cent).
