Despite a challenging operating environment, the number of businesses in Australia’s visitor economy grew by 2.9 per cent in 2020-21, according to a report from Tourism Research Australia.
At June 2021, one in seven businesses in Australia was tourism-related. The period saw an increase in small and micro businesses, as well as increases in retail operators, cafés, restaurants and take-away businesses.
