My food career began with a love of cooking at home and dining out in restaurants as I was growing up. I initially worked as a waiter in restaurants in Sydney and then travelled to the UK and worked as a restaurant manager for the Regent Four Seasons Group – it was here that my love of wine began on trips around Europe. I returned to Sydney and mixed up restaurant work and working in food publishing as a food editor, food stylist & recipe writer. After meeting my husband John Evans I returned to restaurants full time when we opened the Northbridge Bistro and then ran the Restaurant at the 3 Weeds in Rozelle. We fell in love with a house and moved to the South Coast about 13 years ago.
This year we will celebrate ten years of our restaurant SOUTH on Albany in Berry. Together with my husband chef John Evans we offer an ever-changing set 3 course Chef’s menu where we share our love of regional food & wine with locals & visitors alike. The restaurant has a contemporary, relaxed and honest vibe, with my wine list shining the spotlight on the best wines from across NSW and further afield.
I am always excited to discover new producers and growers in our area and learning more about other tourism businesses. We especially love recommending our favourite restaurants, wineries and activities to holiday makers to make their visit memorable.
