DESCRIPTION:The South Coast Centre of Excellence is collaborating with Training NSW\, Workforce Australia – Local Jobs and the Eden Chamber of Commerce to develop a tourism and hospitality short course to encourage you toreskill or upskill to help local businesses with the labour shortages in the region. \nGain knowledge and skills you need to work in the hospitality industry. Local businesses in hospitality\, entertainment and tourism are seeking skilled\, certified and motivated workers. Café restaurants\, clubs\,hotels\, parks\, recreational facilities (just to name a few) offer both part-time casual jobs and permanent roles with solid career pathways. \nWHO CAN ENROL?Anyone who wants to work within the many roles available in hospitality. Skills NSW provides fee free training courses to help you get skills you need to find a new role. From 1 July 2022 the government increased the pension income free area to $190 a fortnight for a single and $336 for couples combined. This means a single pensioner over Age Pension age with no other private income could earn up to $490 a fortnight from work and still receive the maximum rate of pension. Given these changes\, if you are retired and would like to top up your earnings\, consider gaining some new skills and help out your local business community.With an anticipated 60 cruise ships coming into Eden in the next twelve months\, local businesses will need additional labour to work in their cafes\, restaurants\, hotels and on tours.Smart and Skilled program eligibility applies. She is an award-winning multi-media presenter\, MC\, speaker\, food & wine teacher\, consultant\, debater\, judge and regional Australian specialist who makes numerous TV & culinary appearances. DESCRIPTION:The South Coast Centre of Excellence is offering a Wine & Spirit Education Trust Level 2 Award course in the Shoalhaven and invites you or members of your team who are involved in the sale or service of wine to apply to attend this three-day course. There are only a limited number of funded places available \nThis is an internationally recognised course that requires a minimum of 28 hours of study time: \n\n16 hours of delivery time with the WSET course trainer\n11 hours of personal study and revision\nA one-hour examination\n\nThe WSET Level 2 Award in Wines provides an industry-standard introduction to the main styles of wine available to font-line staff involved in the service or sales of wine. This qualification aims to deliver the product knowledge and skills required to prepare a person for employment in wine hospitality or retail and is recognised in over 70 countries. \nThrough a combination of tasting and theory\, the participants will explore factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these styles with confidence \nCourse content includes: \n\nFactors influencing style including climate and production methods\nExplore 22 grape varieties by style and quantity\nOver 70 important wine-producing regions of the world\nSparkling\, sweet\, and fortified wine styles\nInformation and advice for customers and staff\nHow to taste and describe wine\n\nWho is Eligible to Apply\nThe WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is a beginner to intermediate level qualification exploring wines suitable for industry professionals. This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to learn about a wide range of wines. \nThe Centre of Excellence is offering this opportunity to those operators who would like to develop the wine knowledge of their staff. The staff members must have a minimum of 12 months working in the delivery of wine service and must be supported by their employer to undertake the course. \nThe course is fully funded for those in the Shoalhaven\, Eurobodalla\, and Bega Valley local government areas. Those outside these regions can attend\, subject to course numbers\, however a fee will apply.
